Dr. Paulo Portas (Minister of State and Defence) attended a presentation of projects being developed at UNINOVA with relevance for Defence.
 On the 4th of April, a meeting was held at UNINOVA where the company INTROSYS, S.A. presented a project in which the Centre of Intelligent Robotics of UNINOVA and the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon (FCT/UNL) will participate. The project’s aim is the development of robotized vehicles equipped with radar sensors to identify and deactivate land mines.
Being of obvious military nature, the event was attended by the Minister of State and Defence, Dr. Paulo Portas, the Dean of the FTC/UNL, Prof. Doutor Nunes dos Santos, the president of Uninova, Prof. Doutor Steiger Garção and the chair of the general assembly and the president of the board of INTROSYS, respectively, Eng. Ângelo Correia and Dr. Francisco Moita Flores.
During this meeting other projects were also presented, with relevance to the ones being developed under the protocol between UNINOVA and the Portuguese Navy.
His Excellency the Minister showed his interest for the projects being presented, in particular since the Government has decided to increase the incorporation of Portuguese technology in the equipments to be acquired in the future.
